Special Judge for CBI Cases, Indore has convicted Shri Rajendra Kumar Arya, then Superintendent (Audit) Service Tax, working in the Office of Commissioner, Central Excise & Customs and Service Tax, Indore and Shri Manish Pal (Private person), in a bribery case. Shri Rajendra Kumar Arya, then Superintendent was sentenced to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000/- while Shri Manish Pal (private person) to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.5000/-.

CBI had registered a case U/s 120-B of IPC & Section 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988on 13/09/2011 on the basis of complaint. It was alleged that Shri Rajendra Kumar Arya while posted as Superintendent (Audit) Service Tax, working in the office of Commissioner (Audit), Central Excise Customs & Service Tax, Indore had demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the Complainant. The accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.50,000-/ from the Complainant for accepting the report of Survey Department of Central Excise to clear the service tax matter of the Complainant’s firm.

A charge sheet was filed on 11.11. 2011 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Indore against Shri Rajendra Kumar Arya, the then Superintendent (Audit), Service Tax and Shri Manish Pal, a private person (Daily wager) in the said office.

            The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
