The Government of India, through Notification No. 46 (RE-2001), has extended the export deadline for onions under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992. This notification, issued on January 28, 2002, follows the previous Notification 44 (RE-2001) from December 24, 2001, which had allowed a total export quantity of 1 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of onions until January 31, 2002. The new decision extends the shipment period until March 31, 2002, to allow exporters to complete the export of the remaining quantity of onions. This extension is made in the public interest, ensuring a smooth continuation of the export process. The amendment aligns with the Export and Import Policy for 1997-2002, incorporating updates till March 31, 2001.
