The Government of India, through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, issued Notification No. 34/2025-26-DGFT on September 24, 2025. This notification immediately amends the import policy for specific ITC (HS) codes under Chapter 71 of the ITC (HS) 2022 Schedule-I (Import Policy), effective until March 31, 2026. The affected codes are 71131141 and 71131149, which cover articles of jewellery and parts thereof, of silver (whether or not plated or clad with other precious metal), specifically Unstudded Other Jewellery and Other Jewellery. The existing import policy for these items, which was “Free,” has been revised to “Restricted.” This change signifies that the import of these silver jewellery items is no longer freely permitted and will now require specific authorization or licensing, reflecting a regulatory shift in the trade of these particular goods.

Subject: Amendment in import policy of specific ITC (HS) codes under Chapter 71 of Schedule-I(Import Policy) of ITC (HS) 2022.
S.O. 4374(E): In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development &Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby amends the import policy of specific ITC HS codes under Chapter 71 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule — I (Import Policy), with immediate effect, till 31.03.2026, as under:
