On August 29, 2003, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Policy Circular No. 14 (RE-2003)/2002-07 regarding the import of crude palm stearin. The circular clarifies that actual users can obtain permission from the Directorate of Vanaspati, Vegetable Oil and Fats when they intend to process crude palm stearin in their plants to utilize their unutilized capacity. All other conditions outlined in Public Notice No. 14 dated June 6, 1997, remain unchanged, ensuring consistency in the import regulations.

Sub: Import of crude palm stearin.

It is hereby clarified that the actual users of crude palm stearin may obtain permission from the Directorate of Vanaspati, Vegetable Oil and Fats as and when they want to process crude palm stearin in their other plants so as to utilise their unutilised capacity.

2. All other conditions of Public Notice No. 14 dated 06.06.1997 (as appended in Licensing Note No. 3 to Chapter –15 of ITC (HS) Classification of Export & Import items, 2002-2007) will remain the same.

This issues with the approval of DGFT.
