The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce, issued Public Notice No. 12 (RE-99)/1997-2002 on June 15, 1999, amending the import policy for cinematograph feature films and video films under the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002. This amendment modifies paragraph (i) of earlier Public Notices to include the “Directorate of Film Festivals” as an additional entity for related approvals. The change removes the word “and” before “Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute” and inserts the Directorate of Film Festivals in the same context. The amendment aligns with powers granted under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy as notified in the Gazette of India. This update aims to streamline the import process for films by broadening the institutional framework for governance and approvals. The notice is issued in the public interest and signed by N.L. Lakhanpal, Director General of Foreign Trade, with further communication handled by N.P.S. Monga, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade.
