Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, has reconstituted the Export Inspection Council (EIC) through a notification issued on May 1, 2025. Exercising powers under Section 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963, read with Rule 3 of the associated rules, the Central Government has nominated members to the council for a period of two years from the notification’s publication date. The reconstituted council includes a Chairman, a Member Secretary, and several ex-officio members from government bodies such as the Bureau of Indian Standards, Agriculture Marketing Adviser, and the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics. Additionally, the council comprises other nominated members representing various departments like Fisheries, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Food Processing, and organizations such as APEDA, MPEDA, Spices Board, FSSAI, NABL, National Dairy Research Institute, and industry associations including the All India Rice Exporters Association, NIFTEM, and nominees from private inspection agencies. This reconstitution aims to oversee quality control and inspection activities for exports.

S.O. 1982(E).—In exercise of the powers under Section 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963 (22 of 1963) read with rule 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Rules, 1964, the Central Government hereby reconstitutes the Export Inspection Council and nominates the following persons for a period of two year from the date of publication of this notification namely: –
