The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, has issued a significant update through Notification No. 67/2023-Customs, dated 29th December, 2023. This amendment, carried out under the powers vested by the Customs Act, 1962, introduces changes to the existing regulations specified in the notification No. 96/2008-Customs.

The amendment adds a new entry in the Schedule after serial number 37, introducing the “Democratic Republic of Congo” as the 38th country. This addition implies modifications to customs regulations concerning trade and interactions with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

NOTIFICATION

Notification No. 67/2023-Customs | Dated: 29th December, 2023

G.S.R. 925(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 96/2008-Customs, dated the 13th August, 2008, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 590 (E), dated the 13th August, 2008, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Schedule, after serial number 37 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entry shall be inserted, namely: –

“38 Democratic Republic of Congo”.

Note: The principal Notification No. 96/2008-Customs, dated the 13th August, 2008 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 590(E), dated the 13th August, 2008 and was last amended by notification No. 23/2022-Customs, dated the 30th April 2022, that was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 326(E), dated the 30th April 2022.
