This notification amends notification no. 39/96-Cus, dated 23-7-1996 relating to imports made by defence and internal security forces.

Notification No. 8/2000-Customs
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby marked the following further amendment in the Notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue, No. 39/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996, namely:-
In the said notification, in the Table, for serial No. 17 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial No. and entries shall be inserted, namely:-

“17. | Machinery, equipment, instruments, components, spares, jigs and fixtures, dies, tools, accessories, computer software, raw materials and consumables required fore the purpose of SAMYUKTA Programme ot the Ministry of Defence. | If,- the said goods are imported by works centers of the SAMYUKTA Programme, Government agencies or public sector undertakings, as may be designated by an officer not below the rank of a Deputy Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Defense; and
Explanation.– Nothing contained in this exemption shall have effect on or after the 1st day of December, 20002″ |
