Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has issued Instruction No. 22/2025-Customs on July 9, 2025, notifying an amendment to the import policy for specific items under Chapter 71 of the ITC (HS) 2022. This instruction references a corrigendum from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) dated June 25, 2025, which modifies an earlier notification and instruction. The change primarily affects ITC (HS) codes 71104100 and 71104900, pertaining to iridium, osmium, and ruthenium. Previously, the import of “Iridium alloy consisting gold more than 1 percent (1%) by weight” was restricted. The revised policy now broadens this restriction to include “Iridium alloy, osmium alloy and ruthenium alloy consisting of gold more than 1 percent (1%) by weight.” This adjustment classifies these specific alloys as restricted imports. The CBIC has directed all customs authorities to inform their officers about this change, noting that Instruction No. 17/2025-Customs dated June 19, 2025, is modified accordingly.

Reference is invited to corrigendum dated 25.06.2025 issued vide F. No. 01/89/180/93/AM-24/PC-2(A)/E-42179 by the DGFT to Notification No. 18/2025-26 dated 17.06.2025 and CBIC Instruction No. 17/2025-Customs dated 19.06.2025 on the above subject.
2. Vide the above corrigendum dated 25.06.2025, the Import Policy of the following ITC(HS) codes has been amended as under (changes made are in bold letters):

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments in Notification No. 18/2025-26 dated 17.06.2025.
