The Principal Commissioner of Customs (Air Cargo), Chennai has issued Public Notice No. 14/2025 to inform exporters, customs brokers, and other stakeholders about the introduction of ICETABs for export examination and clearance. This initiative is in line with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) Circular No. 17/2025-Customs, dated June 19, 2025. The ICETAB system is designed to streamline the export process by enabling examining officers to view crucial details of Shipping Bills, including RMS instructions and supporting documents, directly on the device. Officers can also promptly enter examination reports and upload up to four images of the cargo, which are then stored in the e-sanchit repository for future reference. A detailed advisory from DG Systems outlines the procedures for using ICETABs for filing examination reports. In cases where the ICETAB cannot be used, officers are required to obtain prior permission from the concerned Assistant Commissioner and record the reason in the report. The notice advises stakeholders to report any difficulties in implementing the new system to the Principal Commissioner.
