PFRDA Mandates Correct TID Capture for Government NPS Remittances

Summary: The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), through its Advisory dated 14 September 2026 bearing C.N. No. 5749-PFRDA/17/07/11/0003/2017-SUP-CAB-Part (2), has advised the Pr AOs, PAOs and DDOs of the Central Government and CAB offices regarding mandatory capture of the Transaction ID (TID) while remitting National Pension System (NPS) contributions to the Trustee Bank. PFRDA states that it is endeavouring to reduce the timelines taken by the Trustee Bank and Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs) in the settlement process so as to advance the cut-off time for same-day investment for subscribers. It has, however, observed that a significant proportion of Government-sector NPS contribution remittances remain unmatched at the Trustee Bank because of non-availability, omission or incorrect capture of the TID in the remittance message. According to the Advisory, nearly 75–80% of Government remittances presently require manual intervention for identification and matching, resulting in avoidable delays in processing and settlement. The TID provides an important linkage between the remittance initiated by the Government Nodal Office and the corresponding contribution information submitted through the prescribed process. Accurate transmission of the TID enables the Trustee Bank to identify and reconcile the remittance with relevant contribution records and facilitates timely processing. PFRDA has accordingly advised all Nodal Offices to ensure that their respective remitting banks mandatorily capture the correct TID in the “Sender to Receiver Information” field while making NPS contribution remittances to the Trustee Bank. Accurate capture of the TID is expected to reduce unmatched transactions, facilitate Fund Receipt Confirmation (FRC) uploads and reduce overall settlement timelines.

Subject: Advisory on mandatory capture of TID in the “Sender to Receiver Information” field while remitting NPS contributions to the Trustee Bank -reg.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

PFRDA endeavour is to reduce the timelines taken by the Trustee Bank (TB) and Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs) in the settlement process, with a view to advancing the cut-off time for same-day investment for the benefit of subscribers.

2. However, it has been observed that a significant proportion of remittances towards National Pension System (NPS) contributions in the Government sector, remain unmatched at the Trustee Bank due to the non-availability, omission or incorrect capture of the Transaction ID (TID) in the remittance message. At present, nearly 75-80% of Government remittances require manual intervention for identification and matching, resulting in avoidable delays in the processing and settlement of NPS contributions.

3. The TID is an important reference for establishing a clear linkage between the remittance initiated by the Government Nodal Office and the corresponding contribution information submitted through the prescribed process. Accurate transmission of the TID in the remittance message enables the Trustee Bank to identify and reconcile the remittance with the relevant contribution records and facilitates timely processing of contributions.

4. In view of the above, all Nodal Offices are advised to ensure that their respective remitting banks mandatorily capture the correct TID in the “Sender to Receiver Information” field while making NPS contribution remittances to the Trustee Bank. Accurate capture of the TID will reduce unmatched transactions, Fund Receipt Confirmation (FRC) upload and help reduce overall settlement timelines.

Yours sincerely,

(Vikas Kumar Singh)
