The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, has established committees for the purpose of framing draft schemes under the Social Security Code 2020. These committees will be responsible for preparing the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme (EPFS), Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLIS). The article provides information about the committees and their respective members.
The EPF Scheme 2023 committee consists of various officers holding key designations in different EPFO offices across India. The committee’s primary responsibility is to draft the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme. Similarly, the EPS 2023 committee and the EDLI Scheme 2023 committee have been formed to draft the Employees’ Pension Scheme and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, respectively. The officers assigned to these committees will work collaboratively to ensure the schemes align with the Social Security Code 2020.
The committees will have the flexibility to engage with internal and external experts to seek their opinions and inputs during the drafting process. The aim is to ensure that the draft schemes are comprehensive and in compliance with the mandate and contours of the Code. The overall coordination of these committees will be overseen by Sh. Chandramauli Chakraborty, ACC(HQ) Legal.
Conclusion: The establishment of these committees by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation marks a significant step towards the implementation of the Social Security Code 2020. By framing the draft schemes, the EPFO aims to enhance the social security benefits for employees across India. Subject: Committees for framing of draft Schemes under the Social Security Code 2020
In terms of Section 15 of the Social Security Code 2020( “the Code”), the Central Government, by notification, has to frame the following three Schemes:-
(i) Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme (EPFS)
(ii) Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS)
(iii) Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLIS)
2. The draft of the above three Schemes are, therefore, to be prepared and placed before the Government of India (MoL&E), for consideration. Accordingly, the following Committees are constituted for framing of the draft Schemes:-
