IN Hyderabad Zone during the year 2009, investigations in 66 cases have been completed and in the cases where sufficient evidence has been collected, charge-sheets have been laid in the corresponding jurisdictional courts. These include the Satyam Scam Case, Cases pertaining to the public servants belonging to South Central Railways, Income Tax department, Department of Posts, Railway Protection Force, South Western Railways for demanding & accepting illegal Gratification, Cases against Public Servants belonging to Income Tax Department, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) & Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The Case pertaining to M/s Satyam Computer Services Limited (M/s SCSL) was registered on 20.2.2009 at Hyderabad Branch on the request of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. A Multi Disciplinary Investigation Team (MDIT) was set up consisting of officers from CBI and professionals from various fields like the Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Bankers & Cyber forensic Experts. The MDIT completed the investigation in this sensational Corporate Fraud case in a record time of 46 days and submitted Charge Sheet against 9 accused persons including the then Chairman; the then Managing Director of the Company. A Supplementary charge sheet was also submitted on 24.11.2009. Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned an Exclusive Court to conduct the trial in this case.

On the request of the Government of Andhra Pradesh & directions of Govt. of India, a preliminary enquiry was registered in the Hyderabad Branch and a thorough investigation has been taken up about the helicopter crash that occurred on 2.9.2009 in which Dr. Y.S. Raja Sekhar Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and 4 others lost their lives.

In order to spread awareness among the general public about the duties, responsibilities and functioning of the CBI, a SMS campaign was launched inviting common public to lodge complaints with the Central Bureau of Investigation. People have been encouraged to interact with CBI through the official website also.

The CBI, Anti-Corruption Zone, Hyderabad consists of the Anti-Corruption Branches of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam in the State of Andhra Pradesh and Bangalore in the state of Karnataka.
