The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has provided its much-awaited nod for electronic mandates (both through net banking and credit/debit cards), instead of the prevailing Adhar based authentication. This is a welcome approval for fintech companies as they will be able to auto-debit recurring payments related to mutual funds, home loans and so on, as per e-mandates provided by the users.

Accordingly, in respect of RRBs and SFBs, housing loans to individuals up to ₹ 35 lakh in metropolitan centres (with population of ten lakh and above) and ₹ 25 lakh in other centres, provided the overall cost of the dwelling unit in the metropolitan centres and at other centres does not exceed ₹ 45 lakh and ₹ 30 lakh, respectively will be eligible for classification under Priority Sector Lending.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 16 January 2019 notified a new external commercial borrowings framework (New ECB Framework). The New ECB Framework rationalizes the existing external commercial borrowings framework (Old ECB Framework) by merging the existing Track I (medium-term foreign currency denominated ECB) and Track II (long-term foreign currency denominated ECB) into one track as ‘Foreign Currency Denominated ECB’. Existing Track III (Indian Rupee denominated ECB) and the Indian Rupee denominated bonds (Masala Bonds) route has been merged as ‘Rupee Denominated ECB’.
