Notes on Carriage by Road Rules, 2011

Application to be made in Form-1 for grant/renewal of certificate of registration (COR) in triplicate to registering authority along with fees

Conditions for GRANT of registration:-

1. Produce registration certificate of 2 commercial vehicles in organisation’s /director’s name or contract letter/work order for carrying out functions as common carrier, from registered company

2. Net worth 500,000 duly supported by CA certificate (if providing service at higher risk then Rs. 20,00,000)

Grant/renewal of COR in From-2 within 30days from authority

Records

Every holder shall maintain the record of transactions in register, to be kept in main office and branch  office and updated on quarterly basis, in Form-5, either i manual or electronic form.

Carriage by Road Rules, 2011 (a GIST)

Summary of entries recorded in above Form-5 shall be submitted in Form-6  (Consolidated Annual Return) to registering authority

Goods forwarding note(GFN) and goods receipt

Every consignor-while booking-execute GFN containing details of goods in Form-7 and submit to common carrier in duplicate

Every common carrier on receipt of GFN shall issue a good receipt in Form-8

Liability of common carrier for loss of or damage to any consignment- Limited to 10 times the freight payable or paid (upto value of goods declared in GFN).
