MESSAGE
Dear Members of the Income Tax family,
On this 159th Income Tax Day, I extend my best wishes to each and every member of the Aaykar Parivar and their families. I feel honoured leading such a glorious and professional service, made even more special by the untiring contribution of each and every employee of the Department.
It gives me immense satisfaction that for the first time ever, we achieved a revenue collection of Rs. 11.37 lakh crore in FY 2018-19. The Department added new taxpayers through the use of data analytics. We continued our fight against Black Money by conducting focused enforcement actions. Let me take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the IT Department for the hard work put in by them. Let us continue forward with the same dedication and commitment.
It also gives me immense pleasure to see how the Department has transformed itself from being mainly a tax enforcement agency to a tax payer facilitating organisation, with equal emphasis on the expeditious disposal of grievances.
While discharging our duties as tax collectors, let us also not lose sight of our responsibilities towards educating and sensitizing our tax payers. I am happy to note that all the regions are conducting outreach programmes with great enthusiasm and zeal. I am sure that you will continue to adopt technology and move shoulder to shoulder with the Government’s resolve to move to an era of faceless assessment, making us a truly modern and responsive tax administration. Let us reiterate our commitment towards making this Department stronger and more vibrant. I hope that you will continue to work with the same zeal, integrity, competence and dedication as you have done in the past. I am sure that, together, we can take this Department to even greater heights of success.
