DGCEI, Chennai recovers Rs. 100 Crores voluntarily from evaders of Central Excise duty and service tax

PRESS NOTE

It is to inform that during the current Financial Year 2012-13 (up to 7^th March 2013), The Directorate General Of Central Excise Intelligence, Chennai Zonal Unit has recovered an amount of Rs. 100 Crores voluntarily on the spot from various evaders of Central Excise duty as well as Service Tax. This amount comprises of Rs. 85 crores from Service tax and Rs. 15 crores from Central Excise.

This is the first time that such a milestone has been achieved by the Chennai zonal unit of DGCEI.
