The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), through Notification No. 28/2026-27-DGFT dated 05 August 2026, has amended Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026 relating to exports of specified meat and meat products to Egypt. The amendment substitutes the second point under Paragraph 3 to provide that, for Egypt, the mandatory implementation of the India Conformity Assessment Scheme (i-CAS)-Halal will take effect after nine months from the date of Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026, instead of the earlier transition period, to facilitate system readiness and the onboarding and accreditation of certification bodies under the i-CAS-Halal framework. All other provisions of Notification No. 59/2025-26 remain unchanged. The notification states that the transition period for implementation of the mandatory i-CAS-Halal requirement for exports of specified meat and meat products to Egypt has been extended by a further three months, from six months to nine months from the date of Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026, to facilitate completion of the onboarding and accreditation process of Egyptian Halal certification bodies.

Subject: Streamlining of Halal Certification Process for Meat and Meat Products regarding.
S.O. (E): In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with Para 1.02 and Para 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026 for the export of specified Meat and Meat products in Egypt.
2. The second point under Paragraph 3 of Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026 shall be substituted as under:
For Egypt: Effect after a period of nine (09) months from the date of Notification No. 59/202526 dated 09.02.2026, to facilitate system readiness and onboarding/accreditation of certification bodies under the India Conformity Assessment Scheme (i-CAS)-Halal.”
3. All other provisions of Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026 shall remain unchanged.
Effect of this Notification: The transition period prescribed for implementation of the mandatory India Conformity Assessment Scheme (i-CAS)-Halal for exports of specified Meat and Meat Products to Egypt is extended by a further period of three (03) months, i.e., from six (06) months to nine (09) months from the date of Notification No. 59/2025-26 dated 09.02.2026, to facilitate completion of the onboarding and accreditation process of the Egyptian Halal certification bodies.
