The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), through Public Notice No. 04/2026-27 dated 17 April 2026, amended Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023 under the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023. The amendment updates the list of banks authorized by the Reserve Bank of India to import gold and silver. A total of 15 banks have been authorized to import both gold and silver, including major public and private sector banks as well as select foreign banks, with validity from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2029. Additionally, a separate list identifies two banks authorized to import only gold during the same period. The notification clarifies that these changes are made under the powers conferred by relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy. The stated effect of the public notice is to update the authorized list of banks permitted to import gold and silver under Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023.

In exercise of the powers conferred under paragraph 1.03 & 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP). 2023. as amended from time to time, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments in Part A and B under Appendix 4B of Handbook of Procedure, 2023:
