With a view to providing RRBs additional options for augmenting regulatory capital funds, so as to maintain the minimum prescribed CRAR, besides meeting the increasing business requirements, it has been decided to allow RRBs to issue Perpetual Debt Instruments (PDIs) eligible for inclusion as Tier 1 capital.
As you are aware, the Sovereign Gold Bonds may be used as collateral by both banks and non-bank institutions and the creation of pledge, hypothecation or lien on the bonds shall be governed by Section 28 of the Government Securities Act, 2006 and Chapter VII of the Government Securities Regulations, 2007.

The Reserve Bank of India, after reviewing the bank’s liquidity position and its ability to pay its depositors has decided to further enhance the limit for withdrawal to Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand only), inclusive of Rs. 25,000 allowed earlier. With the above relaxation, about 77% of the depositors of the bank will be able to withdraw their entire account balance.

As announced in the Fourth Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement, 2019-20, today, it has been decided by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to reduce the policy Repo rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) by 25 basis points from 5.40 per cent to 5.15 per cent with immediate effect. 2. Consequently, the Reverse Repo rate under the LAF stands adjusted to 4.90 per cent with immediate effect.
