IRDAI Guidelines on Insurance Claims of victims of current Cyclone Amphan (May 2020) in parts of Odisha and West Bengal and other neighboring States
As a result of Cyclone Amphan, there are reports of loss of human lives and loss of belongings in the affected Districts of primarily the states of West Bengal and Odisha. As the lockdown has been further extended up to 17th May 2020, keeping in view the difficulty faced by some policyholders to renew the policies in time, the Authority has now allowed extended grace period up to 31st May 2020 for all policies where premium was due in the month of March 2020.
All the insurers were advised to review and update their existing stewardship policy based on the revised guidelines within three months from the date of issue of the circular, i.e., by 7th May, 2020.
