The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) continues its commitment to improving financial accessibility and convenience for the public. On August 17, 2023, RBI launched the उद्गम UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access information) portal, providing individuals with a centralised platform to search for their unclaimed deposits across multiple banks effortlessly.
Initially, the portal’s search feature was introduced for seven banks, with a promise to gradually expand it to include additional banks by October 15, 2023. We are pleased to inform the public that, as of September 28, 2023, the search functionality for a total of 30 banks has been integrated into the उद्गम UDGAM portal.
This expansion covers approximately 90% of unclaimed deposits in value terms within the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund, making it a comprehensive resource for individuals seeking to reclaim their forgotten or unclaimed funds.
The उद्गम UDGAM portal’s user-friendly interface ensures that locating unclaimed deposits is a straightforward process. Whether you have accounts with major banks like State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, or numerous others, this portal provides a convenient way to track and access your unclaimed funds.
Yogesh Dayal, Chief General Manager, RBI, stated that this initiative aligns with the central bank’s mission to enhance financial literacy and empower individuals to take control of their financial well-being.
With this valuable tool at your disposal, you can now easily discover and recover your unclaimed deposits from a wide range of banks, ensuring that your hard-earned money does not go unnoticed or unused.
Conclusion
The Reserve Bank of India’s उद्गम UDGAM portal expansion to include 30 banks marks a significant step toward improving financial transparency and accessibility for the public. This user-friendly platform empowers individuals to search for and claim their unclaimed deposits, covering the majority of such deposits within the DEA Fund. With the integration of more banks, this initiative reinforces RBI’s commitment to enhancing financial awareness and ensuring that unclaimed funds are easily accessible to their rightful owners.
