FIVE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN INCOME TAX OFFICER FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS. 75,000/-

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai has convicted Shri Leeladhar Bangera, the then Income Tax Officer, Ward No.10, Piramal Chambers, Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs. 35,000/- in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case against Shri Leeladhar Bangera, Income Tax Officer (ITO) Ward No. 10, Piramal Chambers, Mumbai U/s 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that he had demanded a bribe of Rs. 75,000/- from the complainant for settling the matter of penalty imposed on the complainant U/s 271(B) of Income Tax Act. The accused was arrested for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 75,000/- from the complainant.

After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 28.06.2010 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai against Shri Leeladhar Bangera.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
