CBI ARRESTS AN INCOME TAX OFFICER FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS.FIVE LAKHS
The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested an Income Tax Officer, Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.Five Lakhs from the Complainant.
A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint. It was alleged that the Income Tax Officer, Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand) was demanding a bribe from the Complainant, a resident of Rudrapur for settling the income tax assessment case of Income Tax Return for the year 2011-12.
CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.Five Lakhs from the Complainant. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused at Rudrapur.
The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Dehradun (Uttarakhand).
