Antrix Corporation Limited Vs Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) & Ors (Supreme Court of India)
The Supreme Court of India has halted a Rs. 317.5 crore VAT recovery demand against Antrix Corporation Limited by the Karnataka Commercial Taxes Department. The department issued a new recovery notice on June 9, 2025, for the period of July 2008 to March 2014. This action came despite a subsisting Supreme Court interim order from May 3, 2010, which had stayed a previous demand covering April 2005 to July 2008. The Court has acknowledged the new demand, issued notice on an interlocutory application, and listed the Civil Appeal for the second week of August. The recent recovery attempt will remain stayed until the next hearing.
