I have procured a DSC. How can I register my DSC with the GST Portal??
Before you register your DSC at the GST Portal, you need to install the emSigner utility. The utility can be downloaded from the Register DSC page. DSC registration is PAN based and only Class 2 and Class 3 DSC are accepted at the GST Portal.
Note:
DSC is mandatory in case Taxpayer is a
- Public Limited Company
- Private Limited Company
- Unlimited Company
- Foreign Company
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Foreign Limited Liability Partnership
- Public Sector Undertaking
To register your DSC with the GST Portal, perform the following steps:
1. Access the https://www.gst.gov.in/ URL. The GST Home page is displayed.
In case of New Registration:
a. Click the REGISTER NOW link.
b. Select the Temporary Reference Number (TRN) option.
c. In the Temporary Reference Number (TRN) field, enter the TRN received.
d. Click the PROCEED button.
e. In the Mobile / Email OTP field, enter the OTP you received on your mobile number and e-mail address. OTP is valid only for 10 minutes.
Note:
- OTP sent to mobile number and e-mail address are same.
- In case OTP is invalid, try again by clicking the Click here to resend the OTP link. You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number or e-mail ID again. Enter the newly received OTP again.
f. Click the PROCEED button.
g. Click the Services > User Services > Register / Update DSC command.
In case of Existing Registration:
Login to the GST Portal with valid credentials.
Go to My Profile link.
2. Click the Register/ Update DSC link.
3. The Register Digital Signature Certificate page is displayed. In the PAN of Authorized Signatory drop-down list, select the PAN of the authorized Signatory that you want to register.
Note: Only PAN specified in the Registration form can be used for registering DSC
4. Select the I have downloaded and installed the signer checkbox.
5. Click the PROCEED button.
6. Select the certificate. Click the Sign button.
A successful message that “Your DSC has been successfully registered” is displayed.
DSC > Update DSC
I have renewed my DSC. How can I update my DSC with the GST Portal?
To update your DSC with the GST Portal, perform the following steps:
1. Access the https://www.gst.gov.in/ URL. The GST Home page is displayed.
2. Login to the GST Portal with the valid credentials.
3. Go to My Profile link.
4. Click the Register/ Update DSC link.
The Register Digital Signature Certificate page is displayed. In the PAN of Authorized Signatory drop-down list, select the PAN of the authorized Signatory that you want to update.
Note:

Click the UPDATE button.
7. Click the CONTINUE button.
8. Select the certificate. Click the Sign button.
A successful message that ” DSC has been successfully updated” is displayed.
Troubleshoot Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) Issues
1. I am facing the error “Sorry! Digital Signature Certificate Missing Please plugin the token & click on process to proceed with signing”. What should I do?
If you are facing the below error, ensure that the DSC is installed or token is plugged in your system.
Click the OK button and install the DSC or plug the token in your system.
Or if the DSC is still plugged in and you are facing the above issue, please follow the below mentioned steps:
Uninstall the emSigner before installing any new emSigner. Always follow below instructions to check your DSC certificate.
Step 1– Go to Internet Explorer (press ALT-X)
Step 2– Go to Internet options > Content tab
Step 3– Click the Certificates button. Select your DSC certificate. Click the View button.
Step 4– Click the Details tab of your certificate. Scroll down and go to Key Usage.
It should be “Digital Signature, Non-Repudiation”.
If it is “Key Encipherment” please remove this Certificate from windows store.
2. I am facing the error “Failed to establish connection to the server. Kindly restart the Emsigner”. What should I do?
If you are facing issues while registering or signing DSC on the GST Portal, check if the emSigner is started or not.
Resolution:
- emSigner server is started – Stop the server and start the emSigner server as ‘Run as Administrator’.
- emSigner server is not started – Start the emSigner server as ‘Run as Administrator’.
3. I am facing the error “This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0”. What should I do?
If you are facing the below error while starting the emSigner server, you need to install the java (jre) in your system.
Click the OK button and you will be redirected to below screen where you can download and install the correct java version.
4. I am facing the error “PAN No verification failed, Please select the valid certificate to sign.”. What should I do?
If you are facing the below error, you need to check the PAN details in the DSC.
Click the OK button and enter correct PAN details or verify the details with the vendor providing the DSC.
5. I am facing the error “The DSC you are trying to affix is not registered at the portal..”. What should I do?
If you are facing the below error, ensure that the DSC is registered at the GST Portal.
Navigate to Dash Board > Register/Update DSC tab and register the DSC at the GST Portal.
6. I am facing Issues while opening web socket in any browser. What should I do?
Note: Normally Firefox browser needs manual intervention in adding root certificate.
1. Add the url – https://127.0.0.1:portNo (port on which server is started Eg: https://127.0.0.1:1585). in browser address bar and press the Enter key.
2. You will be prompted to add the certificate to exception site list. Click the Add Exception button.
Check Port on which server is started. Ensure that the port number is matching with emSigner port description.
3. Type the url https://127.0.0.1:1585 in Mozilla Firefox browser.
4. Click the Advanced button.
5. Click the Add Exception button.
6. Click the Confirm Security Exception button.
7. I am facing the issue that the Web socket is not visible. What should I do?
If you are facing the below error after clicking the PROCEED button or if the websocket is not visible, you need to start the emSigner.
Click the emSigner icon in the taskbar. If websocket is already opened, it will be visible. Otherwise you need to restart the emSigner server.
8. How can I install the Web Socket Installer on MAC?
1. Download Web Socket installer for Macintosh OS
2. Unzip the downloaded folder.
3. Open shell script and navigate to the downloaded folder
4. Execute ./startserver.sh command
5. If emSigner is started successfully, below message is displayed. Click the OK button.
6. In task bar, emSigner icon will be created and you can can see the status of the emSigner server.
Note:

9. emSigner is not working on my machine for the trust key tool while using hard token issued from e-Mudhra Limited, Class 3 or Class 2 certificate. How can I resolve this issue?
To troubleshoot the DSC issue, you first need to check if the trust key tool version is updated to the latest version on your machine.
To check the version of the Trust Key tool, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Plugin the hard token DSC dongle.
2. Double click or right click on the TRUST KEY tool icon on the Desktop.
3. Press Ctrl + Alt +Del keys combination on the keyboard to open the Task Manager.
4. Locate the TRUST KEY tool in the running process. Right click and select Properties option from the drop down list.
5. On the TrustAdminTool.exe Properties window, click the Details tab and view the Product version.
6. If the Product version is 3.5.2.0 and emSigner is not working for TRUST KEY tool, you need to update this software to the latest version.
7. For diagnosing the TRUST KEY tool, open the TRUST KEY tool. Go to Option menu and then select the Diagnostic Tool icon.
8. Once the diagnostic is finished and installation is repaired successfully , you can submit your application using the DSC.
Note: In case emSigner is still getting freeze, you need to update the TRUST KEY tool application to the latest version.
10. How can I install the updated version of TRUST KEY tool from the Internet ?
To install the updated version of the TRUST KEY tool from the Internet, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Download the latest version for TRUST KEY tool from Internet.
Ex: http://www.e-mudhra.com/repository/downloads/Trust_Key.exe
Note: Supported version should be higher than 5.3.2
2. Double click on the TRUST KEY tool exe icon.
3. The Install TRUST KEY tool window is displayed.
4. Click the Install button to start the installation process.
4. A success message is displayed for the successful installation of the TRUST KEY tool.
5. Click the FINISH button.
6. Check the version of the TRUST KEY tool.

If the product version of the tool is updated, you can submit your application using the DSC.

while I try to register my dsc-( i am c.a, proprietor- having my registration as gst practitioner in personal name,) my PAN details does not appear in select zone on gst portal registration module, what should I do?
While uploading GST R9c the error is auditors signature invalid….pan number and other details r matched…tried number of times but the error is same…suggest remedy
Please file without updating signature.
If done please update.

that “the certificate already registered with another authorized signatory”. What is the reason?. (The authorized signatory of the company is the Managing Partner of another firm and using the same DSC for that firm – is that the reason ??) If yes, what is the solution???

The DSC you are trying to register/update is already
registered” with GSt system and there is no need to register the same DSC again
for completing Registration at the portal. You can continue submitting the
applications further without registering the DSC.

I have error of “Certificate missing in token” as above mentioned by you. Its showing key encipherment in details tab. Please provide guideline for how to remove certificate from windows store(as mentioned by you). Also, whether it will get removed automatically from epass usb token if i remove it from windows store?
