Expedite process of approval of GST Practitioners: CBEC Chairman

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to inform that the DSC meeting for grant of NFSG in the grade of Joint Commissioner has concluded. We shall be issuing orders in this regard very shortly.

It has been more than a month since the e-way bill system was introduced in the country. I am very happy to share with you that the system has run without any glitches. An IT system generating more than twelve lakh e-way bills every day and the same being administered by the tax officials is a herculean task and all the concerned officers need to be applauded for the same. The e-way bill system for intra-State movement has now been introduced in eighteen States / Union Territories and in a month all the remaining States / Union Territories would be implementing the same. Hence, I would again urge the Chief Commissioners of zones which are yet to roll out the e-way bill system for intra-State movement of goods to co-ordinate with the State authorities and get the requisite notification issued as early as possible and to publicise the same and exemptions, if any, may be highlighted.

I would also urge the officers to expedite the process of approval of GST Practitioners. A proactive approach in facilitating the enrolment and helping the applicants, in case they have committed any bona fide mistakes while making application, will only further our cause of achieving a trade-friendly image for the department.

I am delighted to share some personal achievements by our officers in different fora. Ms Sudeshna Sengupta, who is currently posted as 10 at DRI Kolkata Zonal Unit has received the HT Women Award 2018 in the category of “Worriers in Uniform.” Sri Anudeep Durishetty (2014 batch) who is currently posted as AC in Medchal Commissionerate of Hyderabad Zone has secured 1^st Rank in the Civil Services Examination 2017. Shri Vikram Bhasin, Superintendent posted in Customs, Delhi has won the Men’s Singles and Doubles Gold Medal in Open Badminton Invitational Championship in Sri Lanka. Shri V.V.S Prasad, Superintendent of Hyderabad Zone, currently posted at DGGI, Hyderabad, has been given a Guinness World Record acknowledgement in the field of Martial Arts. On behalf of all the officers and staff of the department my heartiest congratulations to all these officers for their wonderful performance. I wish them all success for future ventures. They have indeed done our service proud!

The 27^th GST Council meeting was held today. The outcome will be informed through press releases, notifications and circulars. Kindly ensure that all the officers and staff of the department keep abreast of these recent developments.
