Dear
As we hoist the tricolor and sing the national anthem on the 77th Independence Day of our great nation, let our hearts swell with pride for the incredible journey our nation has undertaken. On this Independence Day, let us renew our pledge to uphold the ideals of “Nation First, Always First”, the central theme guiding this year’s festivities, in every action we take. By doing so, we honor the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and contribute to the continued progress of our nation.
We need to not only introspect ourselves and strive for continuous improvement, but also encourage the spirit of Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam enshrined in the Bhagwad Gita which denotes efficiency in action for producing maximum results. In this regard, I am happy to note that NACIN organised a three-day brainstorming workshop at Vadodara, Gujarat on Emotional Intelligence and Practice of Leadership, which many senior officers of the department attended.
During last week, I visited the campus of NACIN Palasamudram to review the progress of the project. The campus is taking shape swiftly and I appreciate the enthusiasm with which the stakeholders have taken it upon themselves to welcome the probationers this year.
It shall be my endeavour to encourage innovation and system improvements. Towards this, Visakhapatnam CGST has implemented an ‘e-Commissionerate’ initiative by using e-utilities like Microsoft 365, e-office, GOV e-mail etc., in matters such as compilation of reports, maintenance of online registers, monitoring of time-sensitive files and performance of Divisions and Ranges. My sincere compliments to the officers for going the extra mile!
On the preventive side, the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence continued their efforts against illegal wildlife trade and intercepted a gang of sellers involved in illegal trading. Their proactive efforts led to seizure of leopard skins in Srinagar.
In a major breakthrough, officers of Mumbai Air Customs seized 1559.6 Carat natural and lab grown diamonds worth Rs. 1.5 Crore ingeniously concealed inside a tea packet from a passenger travelling to Dubai. Kudos to the officers for their alertness and hard work.
Before I sign off for the week, I feel it is my duty to acknowledge your good wishes and I am deeply humbled that many of you came in person to meet me. The interaction with colleagues from across organizations is enriching and invaluable for me. Therefore, I would strive to meet everyone who comes over to my office. However, at times I would be constrained by unscheduled commitments which also require my attention. As a possible solution to this, I am earmarking 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM every day for departmental visitors. I am hopeful this will be convenient for all of you.
Jai Hind!
Yours sincerely,
(Sanjay Kumar Agarwal)
