JSW Steel Limited has announced its consolidated crude steel production figures for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2027, reporting a total output of 7.27 million tonnes. This marks a 10% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 5% rise year-on-year, reflecting the company’s robust operational performance and strategic growth initiatives.

The company’s Indian operations contributed significantly to this achievement, with production reaching 7.07 million tonnes, up 11% from the previous quarter and 5% from the same period last year. The capacity utilisation for Indian operations stood at 88% for the quarter, with a notable increase to approximately 90% in September 2026. This improvement is attributed to the gradual ramp-up of the Blast Furnace 3 at the Vijayanagar plant, following its shutdown for capacity upgrades.

In contrast, JSW Steel USA’s Ohio operations reported a production of 0.20 million tonnes, experiencing a slight decline compared to both the previous quarter and the same quarter last year, where production was 0.24 million tonnes. For the first half of FY27, the company recorded a consolidated production of 13.86 million tonnes, representing a 4% increase from the 13.32 million tonnes produced in the first half of FY26.

JSW Steel continues to be a dominant player in the steel industry, with a strategic focus on expanding its production capacity and enhancing its operational efficiencies. The company is on track to increase its combined crude steel capacity to 54.8 million tonnes per annum over the next four years. Analysts view JSW Steel’s consistent production growth as a positive indicator of its operational resilience and strategic foresight, positioning it well in the competitive global steel market.
