Air India, in collaboration with Tata Communications, has launched the EasyRoam travel SIM, offering international roaming services to enhance the travel experience for its passengers. Announced on 8 October 2026, the EasyRoam SIM is available as both a physical SIM and an eSIM, providing Air India passengers with seamless access to voice and data services while travelling internationally.
Initially, the EasyRoam SIM is being offered free of charge, although roaming pack charges will apply. These packs are available for 30 countries, including regions across North America, Europe, Australia, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. Prices for the roaming packs start at INR 241, exclusive of taxes, and vary depending on the destination and plan selected. Customers purchasing a data plan can also receive up to 1GB of additional complimentary data, with the exception of the Maldives and Mauritius. The geographical coverage of the EasyRoam SIM is set to expand to 190 countries, offering destination-specific or worldwide travel plans with options for data-only or voice and data connectivity.
The EasyRoam SIM is designed to meet the evolving needs of modern travellers who expect seamless, instant, and secure connectivity. Vivek Manglik, Executive Vice President at Tata Communications, emphasised the importance of integrating travel connectivity into the booking journey, allowing customers to activate their mobile plans before departure. This initiative aims to simplify international connectivity, providing travellers with greater control and peace of mind.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, highlighted the changing nature of travel, with individuals increasingly living and working across borders. The EasyRoam SIM addresses the need for uninterrupted digital access, enabling customers to stay connected effortlessly while travelling. The service is currently available for purchase through the Air India website and will soon be accessible via the Air India mobile app.
Analysts view this collaboration as a strategic move for both Air India and Tata Communications, enhancing customer experience and potentially increasing customer loyalty. The initiative aligns with Air India’s ongoing transformation programme, Vihaan.AI, as it seeks to modernise and expand its services following its return to Tata Sons in 2022.
