Policy Circular No. 8 (RE-98)/98-99 ,

Dated the 26th May’99.

Subject :- Surrender of three times SIL for import under SIL.

Attention is invited to para 2 of Notification No. 2 (RE-99)/1997-2002 dated 31.3.99 wherein it is notified that any item importable under Special Import License (SIL) shall be importable on surrender of SIL equivalent to three times the c.i.f. value of imports, except in those cases where the requirement of surrender of SIL is more than three times the c.i.f. value of imports.

2. It is clarified , that the aforesaid provision for surrendering SIL equivalent to three times the c.i.f. value of imports shall not be applicable for all such consignments which have been shipped /despatched before 31.3.99 in terms of para 15.14 of the Hand Book Vol.I.

This issues with the approval of DGFT.
