The Government of India issued Public Notice No. 23 (RE-2006)/2004-09 on 20th June 2006, which clarified the initial export obligation period for Advance Licences issued between 1st April and 31st August 2004. According to the notice, except in cases of supplies under Advance Licence for Deemed Exports or Advance Licences for projects and turnkey projects both within India and abroad, the export obligation period will be 24 months. For these Advance Licence holders, the concerned Regional Authorities will take action without requiring additional documents or fees. This clarification was issued under the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 and Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1) and aims to streamline the process for license holders. The notice was issued in public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade, K.T. Chacko.

NEW DELHI : Dated 20th June, 2006

In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09 and Paragraph 1.1 of Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1), the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby clarifies that the initial Export Obligation period for Advance Licences issued during the period 1.4.2004 to 31.8.2004,except in case of supplies under Advance Licence for Deemed Exports/Advance Licence to the projects/turnkey projects in India/abroad where the export obligation must be fulfilled during the contracted duration of execution of the project/turnkey project, shall be 24 months. The licence holders may present their licences to the concerned Regional Authorities who may take necessary action without insisting on any additional documents/fee etc.
