Notification No. 5/2002-2007, dated 20th May 2002, issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, introduces amendments to the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, 2002-2007. The notification exempts the import of Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) Vans and Outdoor Broadcasting (OB) Vans from specific conditions under Sl. No. 1 and 2 in Chapter 87 of the classification. However, the exemption is subject to the condition that the vehicles must have a right-hand steering and controls, which applies to vehicles other than two- and three-wheelers. The change aims to facilitate the import of these specialized broadcasting vehicles while ensuring compliance with the necessary vehicle specifications

NOTIFICATION NO. 5/2002-2007

NEW DELHI: 20th  May, 2002

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade  (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 2002-2007, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items , 2002-2007 published on 31st March, 2002  as amended from time to time, namely- at the end of Chapter-87 of the said ITC(HS) Classification of Export & Import items, 2002-2007, the following clause in the import licensing note shall be inserted:-

“(5) The import of vehicles namely, Digital Satellite News Gathering Vans (DSNG van) / Outdoor Broadcasting Vans (OB Van), as classified in this Chapter, fitted with equipments for telecasting shall be exempted from the conditions specified at Sl. No. 1 & 2 above.  However, these imports shall be subject to the condition that the vehicle should have right hand steering and controls (applicable on vehicles other than two and three wheelers).”

This issues in public interest.
