The Government of India, through Notification No. 41 (RE-2001)/1997-2002, dated December 19, 2001, amended the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002. Under these amendments, the import of natural rubber, classified under Exim Head 40.01, is now permitted exclusively through the customs ports at Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. This restriction, effective from December 10, 2001, aims to regulate the entry of natural rubber into the country through designated ports. The notification is issued in the public interest, with the goal of streamlining import procedures for the specified commodity.

NOTIFICATION NO. 41 (RE-2001)/1997-2002

NEW DELHI: 19th December, 2001

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002, published on 31.03.1997, and as amended from time to time, namely-

In the import licensing notes, appearing in chapter 40 of the said ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002, the following clause shall be inserted in the end:

“ (2) import of natural rubber (all the items classified under Exim Head 40.01) shall be permitted only through customs port at Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam.”

The aforementioned provision shall be applicable with effect from 10th of December, 2001.
