NEW DELHI, DATED 22nd JULY, 2008

S.O. (E) In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with Para 1.3 and 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the Schedule 2, Table B of ITC HS Classifications of Export and Import Items (1st September, 2004 – 31st March, 2009), by inserting the following Chapter 52, S.No.161 A, with immediate effect, as under: –

The contracts for export of cotton shall be registered with the Textile Commissioner prior to shipment. Clearance of cotton consignments by Customs should be after verifying that the contracts have been registered.
