Fishing Passes – Periodicity for Renewals Revised

Subject: Customs-Issue of passes to mechanised fishing vessels-Fixing of validity period – Instruction reg.

In supersession of Ministry’s instruction contained in circular F.No. 574/ 5/ 77-LC – II dated 1.1.79 and F.No. 581/ 8/ 92-LC dated 30.11.92 regarding issue of passes to mechanised and non-mechanised fishing vessels, I am directed to say that it has now been decided that the periodicity for for renewal of fishing passes should be as under.

(i)    Non Mechanised/Mechanised
Fishing vessels
 6 months from the date of issue
(ii)    Fishing trawlers (both small & large) 3 months from the date of issue

2. Necessary instruction to this effect may please be issued to all concerned immediately. They should also be instructed to ensure that renewal of the seasonal fishing passes is as far as possible completed on the same day on which the renewal is requested, without giving any cause or complaint of harassment or delay. Further at the time of renewal full verification may also be carried out.
