The Ministry of Finance, through the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), has issued Notification No. 81/2024-Customs (N.T.) on November 14, 2024, amending the Customs notification No. 62/1994. This amendment, made under the powers granted by Section 7(1)(a) of the Customs Act, 1962, officially designates Chhara in the State of Gujarat as an authorized location for unloading imported goods and loading export goods. The updated notification adds Chhara as item 32 under serial number 5 in the original 1994 notification, expanding the list of approved sites in Gujarat for customs-related activities. This change facilitates increased trade operations at Chhara port, allowing for streamlined import and export processes in the region. The notification aims to enhance the infrastructure and handling capacity of customs locations in line with trade requirements.

S.O. 4932(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of the section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs hereby makes the following further amendments in the Notification No. 62/1994-Customs (N.T.) dated the 21st November, 1994 of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. 829 (E), dated the 21st November, 1994, namely:-
In the said notification in the Table, against serial number 5 relating to the State of Gujarat, in column (3) and (4), after item (31) in column (3) and the entries relating thereto in column (4), the following item and entries shall be inserted, namely: –
