FSSAI Updates Food Safety Officers at Ports and Regions

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), through two notifications dated July 10, 2025, has updated the list of designated Food Safety Officers under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. In the first notification (F. No. RCD-10002/1/2022-Regulatory-FSSAI), the authority has amended its earlier notification of June 15, 2021, by omitting serial numbers 1, 2, and 32 from the existing list. Four new officers have been appointed to oversee specific jurisdictions: Dr. Basavarajeshwari for Mumbai Port, Dr. Bhavya B.S for Trivandrum Airport, Dr. Selvaganapathi S for Trichy Airport, and Dr. V. Lakshmi Karteek for Bangalore Airport.

In the second notification (RCD-15001/4/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI-part(1)), FSSAI amended its September 2, 2021 notification by omitting serial number 73 and appointing Sh. Sharanabasava as Central Food Safety Officer (CFSO) for the Southern Region, covering States and Union Territories under its jurisdiction. These updates are effective from the date of publication and reflect FSSAI’s ongoing efforts to streamline food safety enforcement at key locations.

No. RCD-10002/1/2022-Regulatory-FSSAI:—In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Section 5 of Section 10 read with Section 37 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India hereby notifies the following officers of Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, as Food Safety Officers for the area as mentioned against his /her name with effect from the date of publication of this notification by amending the principal notification, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4 dated the 15^th June 2021:—

In the table,-

1. serial number 1,2 and 32 shall be omitted;

2. after serial number 32, the following entries shall be inserted in the respective columns, namely:—

RCD-15001/4/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI-part(1)—In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Section 5 of Section 10 read with Section 37 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India hereby notifies the following officers as Central Food Safety Officers for the area mentioned against each with effect from the date of publication of this notification by amending the principal notification, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4 dated the 2^nd September, 2021:-

In the table;

1. no. 73 shall be omitted;

2. after Sr. no. 76, the following entries shall be inserted in the respective columns namely,-
