Summary: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), through Notification F. No. RCD-09001/1/2022-Regulatory-FSSAI dated 18th September, 2026, has amended the notification constituting the Central Advisory Committee under sub-section (1) of section 11 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The amendment relates to the principal notification bearing the same file number, which was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4 on 9th October, 2025. After serial number 5 under the heading “Agriculture”, FSSAI has inserted a new category titled “Consumers” and added two members to the Committee. Naveen Prakash Sharma, National President, Upbhokta Adhikar Sangthan, Basant Vihar, Near Old Post Office, Burhar, District Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, has been included as a Member. Anindita Mehta, CEO, Consumer Education & Research Centre (CERC), Grahak Suraksha Kendra, Ahmedabad, has also been included as a Member. The amendment has been issued by Rajit Punhani, Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI. The notification further records that the principal Central Advisory Committee notification dated 9th October, 2025 had subsequently been amended through a notification bearing F. F.No RCD-09001/1/2022-Regulatory-FSSAI published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4 vide notification dated, the 9th October, 2025 for constitution of Central Advisory Committee, namely:-
