The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the freezing and defreezing of Member Identification (MID), Universal Account Number (UAN), and Establishment IDs. Effective from June 30, 2024, this functionality is aimed at streamlining the process and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The introduction of the new SOP for freezing and defreezing MID/UAN/Establishment IDs by the EPFO is a commendable step towards enhancing the organization’s operational efficiency and data security. The functionality deployed by the IS Division will facilitate the accurate execution of these procedures, ensuring compliance and preventing misuse. Authorized Officers are now equipped to manage these identifiers more effectively, contributing to the overall integrity of the EPFO’s management systems. Madam/Sir,
Please refer to FIA Circular dated 22/12/2023 on the captioned subject matter (copy attached) vide which SOP on Freezing/Defreezing the MID/UAN/Establishment duly approved by competent authority has been circulated to all the field functionaries for information and necessary action.
2. In this context, it is to inform that the IS Division has deployed the functionality of executing the above SOP with effect from 30.06.2024.
3. In view of the above, Authorized Officers as indicated in the SOP are requested to use the above said functionality for executing the functions of Freezing/Unfreezing of MID/UAN/Establishment forthwith.
