• Keep Your Phone Away:-
Yes, what you have heard is correct. You have to keep your phone away, if you want to be one step ahead of others. If you want to receive something, first you have to give something. It is like give and take; as simple as that. What I want to convey is, you have to get rid of the habit of accessing your phone right away in the morning when you get up. Nowadays we all have this habit and it has become our daily routine. People just don’t think. Look back to those days when we didn’t have mobiles. We all are addicted to this mobile. Instead of accessing your mobile immediately when you get up, take a book and start reading or hear audio-videos on positive thoughts or devotional songs, write in the journal. Just start doing this; you would experience the change in your whole behaviour on your own.
• Choose the Quite Area and or Corner:-
You don’t require a bigger place to sit and meditate. We all have another habit to give lots of excuses for not doing; but we don’t find one reason for doing it. It’s called a real tragedy. So, find the place, sit and start meditating. Meditation means not chanting mantra or shlok. Reading, listening to devotional music are all types of meditation only. Anything between five to ten minutes in the morning, you have to be with yourself. Do this regularly and you would experience the magic.
• Make To Do List:-
Having to do list a day before is like a cherry on a cake. This list should be in respect of your official work as well as of your personal work.
Why we should have such type of To Do List:-
Provides clear direction
Differentiate the activity as Urgent but not important and Important but not urgent
Full control on activities rather than activities control us
Relax mind and therefore no stress
Helps in setting work-life balance
• Take Short Breaks:-
It is very important to keep your energy intact for the whole day. Divide your tasks in hand and avoid any kind of disturbances for at least 25 to 30 minutes. After 25 to 30 minutes of focused work, take a short break of 5 minutes and do some physical stretches or read one or two pages of a book which helps in boosting your energy. Don’t read messages and or notifications on social media. Else you would be distracted forever. You can check and answer important emails in that time too. Again start and block 25 to 30 minutes of work.
• What You Eat:-
What we think we become. Like that, what we eat is also important. First set time of your breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Have regularity in all the above. Whatever it may be, you have to follow strict discipline in your eating time. Even if we left 1% for unavoidable circumstances, still 99% we can follow regular time discipline while eating. Here also many of us give a lot of excuses for being unable to follow but we can’t find one reason to follow what is good for our health. Secondly, eat homemade food as much as you can. Eat as per your health needs and not as per what your tongue needs. Eating fast food and or outside for one or two times a month is fine. Frequently eating outside food not only makes you ill physically but it impacts you mentally too.
• Daily Exercise:-
This is a very important practice out of the six and therefore I kept it last; so that you would easily remember. At the beginning of every New Year, we all have resolutions about exercise. This resolution lasts for 9 to 10 days, max to max 15 days of the first month of the year and not more than that. And then we again get back to our old bad routine which doesn’t have any type of exercise. Wherever you are and whatever you do, do exercise on a daily basis. Before any disease eats your life; work on it and start doing exercise regularly.
Hope this write-up helps you in some way. Be Blissful!
