Summary: The Council, at its meeting dated 21 September 2026, approved several decisions concerning students, infrastructure, Company Secretaries in Practice and Chapter jurisdictions. It approved opening CS examination centres at Rewa, Ratnagiri, Ayodhya, Haridwar, Saharanpur, Begusarai and Darbhanga from the December 2026 examination session. The Student Company Secretary Quiz in the Student Company Secretary e-Journal was renamed “SCS Knowledge Quest”, with prize money revised to Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 for the first, second and third prizes respectively. The Council also approved a revised Fee Waiver/Concession structure for specified categories of students and acquisition of built-up space/floor for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Chapter. It approved amendment of ICSI Infrastructure Guidelines so that no contribution is taken from Regions/Chapters towards means of finance for addition, alteration, renovation or major repairs of existing premises. The areas of services of Company Secretaries in Practice under the ICSI (Management & Development of Company Secretaries in Practice) Guidelines, 2023 were also approved for revision. Jurisdictional changes include Panchkula and Mohali being brought under Chandigarh Chapter, renamed “Chandigarh Tricity Chapter”; Vijayawada and Guntur being included under Amaravati Chapter, renamed “Amaravati Tricity Chapter”; the seven North Eastern sister states being placed under North Eastern (Guwahati) Chapter for Managing Committee purposes; and Sikkim being placed under Siliguri Chapter for membership administration and student services.

Important Decisions taken in the Meeting of the Council dated 21 September, 2026
1. The Council accorded approval for opening of examination centres at Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Begusarai (Bihar), Darbhanga (Bihar) from CS Examinations, December 2026 session.
2. The Council accorded approval for the revised title of Student Company Secretary Quiz in the Student Company Secretary e-Journal as “SCS Knowledge Quest”, and revised the prize money for the aforesaid Quiz, as under:
- 1st Prize- Rs. 5,000/-
- 2nd Prize- Rs. 3,000/-
- 3rd Prize- Rs. 2,000/-
3. The Council approved the revised Fee Waiver/Concession structure applicable to specified categories of students of the Institute.
4. The Council accorded approval for acquisition of Built-up Space / Floor for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Chapter.
5. The Council accorded approval for amending the ICSI Infrastructure Guidelines such that ‘NO’ contribution to be taken from Regions/Chapters for Means of Finance pertaining to addition / alteration / renovation / major repair of the existing premises of Regions / Chapters.
6. The Council accorded approval for revising the areas of services of Company Secretaries in Practice as per the ICSI (Management & Development of Company Secretaries in Practice) Guidelines, 2023.
7. The Council decided that the jurisdiction of Chandigarh Chapter shall include the districts of Panchkula and Mohali for the purpose of constitution of the Managing Committee of Chandigarh Chapter, as well as for all other purposes including infrastructure development, membership administration, and student services. The Council decided to change the name of Chandigarh Chapter as “Chandigarh Tricity Chapter”.
8. The Council decided to include the districts of Vijayawada and Guntur under the jurisdiction of Amaravati Chapter, for the purpose of constitution of the Managing Committee of Amaravati Chapter, and further decided to rename the Chapter as “Amaravati Tricity Chapter”.
9. The Council decided to include the seven-sister states of the North Eastern Region, (comprising of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura), under the jurisdiction of North Eastern (Guwahati) Chapter, for the purpose of constitution of the Managing Committee of North Eastern (Guwahati) Chapter.
10. The Council decided that the state of Sikkim shall fall under the jurisdiction of Siliguri Chapter, for the purpose of membership administration and student services.
