FSSAI license is required by the food operator who does not categorize as petty food business operators. this is a 14 digit registration number that is printed on all food packages.

FSSAI license requirement:
FSSAI license is categorized into two parts- Central FSSAI license and State FSSAI license. food business operators who are, importers, exporters need to obtain FSSAI registration from the central government, and food business operators with small to medium sized manufacturing need to take FSSAI registration from the state government to apply for state license the FBO must have turnover between Rs.12 lakh to Rs.20 crore.

FSSAI Registration Process:
> FSSAI registration is initiated by submitting Form A (application) to the Food and Safety Department.
> This application can be accepted or it may be rejected by the Department within 7 days from the date of receipt
> If the application is accepted, then the department will grant a registration certificate with the registration number and the photo of the applicant.
> FBO should prominently display the certificate of registration at the place of business during business hours.
