Follow Us:

New Year is around the corner. Every one of us is planning to welcome the New Year. But most of the time what happens is, we plan to celebrate and fail to reflect upon. This is what I want to convey from this small write-up. December should be looked as a month of Reflection. Many would now think, but what to reflect upon? So, let’s dive into the idea.

We must Reflect upon FIVE FRONTS:-

1. Professional Front:-

To meet our basic family needs, we require earning money. This is from a living point of view. However, to satisfy or give justice to our degree we need to professionally upgrade on a time to time basis. Thumb rule is that when you professionally succeed then you would also be able to give justice to all other fronts. Because, this particular front helps you to earn the required amount of money to live well. In true sense all five fronts are interlinked. And they should be. Cars can only run with all four wheels. But, those four wheels require maintenance to run a car smoothly for a long period of time.

Therefore, we need to reflect upon

  • What have we done in the past eleven plus months to achieve progress in the profession? Like courses we registered, books we read, seminars we attended, video learning’s we did if any.
  • What areas do we need to work upon?
  • What courses do we need to register to upgrade in our profession?
  • What seminars or videos do we need to attend or see to keep ourselves upgraded in our profession?
  • Which books do we need to read?
  • Which audio podcasts should we listen to?

2. Family Front:-

Most of us fail to achieve work-life balance because we never reflect upon it. We are just running the so-called rat race. To achieve a balanced life, we must give time to ourselves to reflect upon.

Therefore, we must reflect upon

  • What actions we had taken to enjoy with family?
  • Whether we had achieved on what we had planned on that front
  • Plan plus right execution helps us to achieve whatever we want
  • Our thought patterns should change as “Family First then Work” from “Work First then Family”

We must understand and discuss with family members about wants, needs. So, one need not have to run a RAT race.

3. Creative Front:-

Everyone had the intellect, brain to apply. But, many of us just like to be in our comfort zone and unable to provide justice to our own potential.

Therefore, we must reflect upon

  • Whether we had taken any action on any creative idea or not
  • Whether we keep any log to record any new creative idea to work upon later

We would be able to work upon the creative part only when we defined every front, which we are discussing through this write-up. As I said earlier, each front is interlinked and interdependent. Therefore, reflecting upon and working upon each and every front would automatically provide us with required results.

4. Spiritual Front:-

This front is a foundation on which the building of our well-being would need to build upon. Most of us completely ignore and keep aside this front.

Therefore, we need to reflect upon

  • Have I done anything to progress spiritually?
  • If I planned then whether any action I have taken or not as per plan
  • What more do I need to do so that I can be spiritually uplifted?
  • Whether I am associated with any spiritual group and also attending it frequently
  • If not associated with any group then what would be future plans to work upon?

5. Health Front:-

This front is also ignored and neglected at a younger age. We just run to earn. But, never stop and reflect upon our own health. We just forget the simple thumb rule of “Health is Wealth”. We take it so lightly. And when things go out of our hands, we curse or blame all others including God; but never reflect upon what went wrong?

Therefore, we must reflect upon:-

  • What we planned and choices made w.r.t. our health?
  • Whether we are serious about our health
  • What initiatives we have taken or need to take to keep our own health in finest mode?

These are the things we need to reflect upon in the month of December. So that we would be able to welcome the New Year in the right spirit with a lot of energy!

Now, don’t wait to start Reflecting.
