Today, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, vide order dated May 28, 2021 cancelled the licence of Shivajirao Bhosale Sahakari Bank Ltd., Pune, Maharashtra. Consequently, the bank ceases to carry on banking business, with effect from the close of business on May 31, 2021.

The study examines the concept of threshold inflation and defines it as the long run equilibrium rate of inflation that maximizes the steady state growth within the relevant range of values. The empirical findings of the study broadly confirm higher threshold inflation and higher growth in emerging market economies than in advanced economies.
Bank credit growth (y-o-y) decelerated to 5.6 per cent in March 2021 from 6.4 per cent a year ago. Combined credit by bank branches in top six centres (viz, Greater Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata, which together accounted for over 46 per cent of total bank credit) declined marginally during 2020-21; bank branches in urban, semi-urban and rural areas, on the other hand, recorded 9.4 per cent, 14.3 per cent and 14.5 per cent credit growth, respectively, during the year.
