The Finance Bill, 2011 (the Bill) was introduced by the Finance Minister (FM) in the Lok Sabha yesterday. The FM has proposed certain amendments to the Bill in the Lok Sabha. After almost two years of planning, the National Payments Corporation has at last finalised the proposed unique India Card which once commercially launched would be an domestic alternative to the global real-time payment processing firms like Visa and MasterCard . “We have finalised name of the proposed card as Rupay at our board meeting here today. We have also finalised the logo for the same,” a senior official of the RBI-set up National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), told media this evening. The official sought not to be named.

Tenders or public auction best way to sell state properties- The Supreme Court (SC) has declared “inviting tenders from the public or holding public auction is the best way for disposal of properties belonging to the state.” In this case, Kerala Finance Corp vs Vincent Paul, the borrower failed to repay the loan and the state finance corporation tried to dispose of the mortgaged property. But the process was entangled in civil suits. The SC ssaid the corporation has not framed rules or guidelines for sale of properties owned by them. Therefore the court itself framed rules to be followed by the corporation till it formed its own guidelines.

The Supreme Court today remanded Pune stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan in Enforcement Directorate”s custody for four days, while pulling up the trial court judge who had granted bail to him dismissing the agency”s plea for his remand in a money laundering case. A bench of justices B Sudershan Reddy and S S Nijjar said it was “deeply disturbed” at the manner in which the trial court judge had rejected the ED”s contention and granted bail while giving a lengthy order for it.
