No.F.10/9/2008-IR Dated April 26, 2011 Right to Information (Regulation of Fee and Cost) Rules, 2005 provide that a person seeking information under the RTI Act. 2005 can make payment of fee for obtaining information by cash or demand draft or banker’s cheque or Indian Postal Order. It has been brought to the notice of this Deportment that some pubic authorities do not accept fee through the Indian Postal Orders.

Inflation is expected come down to 7.78 per cent this month on the back of a good monsoon and an increase in the area under rabi crops, the Institute of Economic Growth said in a report. In June, inflation is likely to further come down to 7.38 per cent, it said. Headline inflation for March stood at 8.98 per cent. Inflation in the country has been above 8 per cent since February, 2010.

Sexuality education cost-effective when mandatory and integrated – UN study

Programmes to impart sexuality education to young people are more cost-effective when integrated and mandatory, according to the findings of a United Nations study released today at a symposium in New York. The cost per learner in well established programmes ranged from $6.90 in Nigeria to $32.80 in the Netherlands, while smaller pilot programmes in Kenya and Indonesia indicated significantly higher costs, according to the result of a six-country study released by the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Education of the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

To cover up Rs 200 crore illegal gratification made to Kalaignar TV, agreements were executed after lodging of FIR in the 2G scam and money was channelled back to its source on A Raja’s resignation as Telecom Minister, the CBI has claimed. The agency has supported this contention on the basis of the statements of an accountant of DB Realty and Director of the Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd to establish that the money travelled between December 23, 2008 and August 7, 2009 from Shahid Balwa’s firm to Kalaignar TV in which DMK MP Kanimozhi has stake.

Ranging from Re one to Rs 950, rural households in the country could have paid a whopping Rs 471.8 crore last year as bribe to avail basic facilities such as ration, health, education and water supply, says a study. The ‘India Corruption Study 2010 report prepared by Centre for Media Studies (CMS), a survey of 9,960 households in 12 states, says on an average a rural household could have paid Rs 164 as bribe for availing these facilities in a year.

Trade Negotiators given Guidelines

The Trade and Economic Relations Committee held its 17th meeting on the 29th April 2011 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. The committee reviewed the status of the India-European Union Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement and discussed the various issues involved in the negotiations. It was observed that concern has been raised by various quarters about the Indian stand on issues on Intellectual Property Rights, especially in the context of the Indian Pharma products. The Prime Minister firmly directed that the Indian side shall not take on any obligation beyond TRIPS/ Domestic Law.
