In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with subsection(3) of section 85 of Finance Act, 2005 (18 of 2005), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No.-Central 6/2005Excise, dated the 1st March, 2005, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide number G.S.R. In the Union Budget 2010-11 presented by the Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in the Lok Sabha today, the rate reduction in Central Excise duties has been partially rolled back and the standard rate on all non-petroleum products enhanced from 8 per cent to 10 per cent ad valorem.
