These updates include the establishment of a new branch in Tonk District, Rajasthan, the renaming of the Aurangabad Branch, and the detachment of Theni from the Madurai Branch’s jurisdiction. These changes are pivotal for ICAI members and students in these regions, reflecting the institute’s commitment to enhancing its regional presence and administrative efficiency.
A. New ICAI Branch in Tonk District, Rajasthan Announced
On May 10, 2024, the ICAI announced the establishment of a new branch in the Tonk District of Rajasthan, effective from April 25, 2024. This new branch, named the Tonk District Branch of Central India Regional Council, is poised to serve the entire Tonk District. The headquarters of this branch will be located in Tonk city, encompassing several towns and regions including Deoli, Dooni, Malpura, Newai, Peeplu, Todarisingh, Uniara, and Nagarfort.
This move is in accordance with Regulation 159 (1A) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. The Tonk District Branch will operate under the control and supervision of the Central India Regional Council (CIRC), adhering to directives issued by the ICAI Council.
B. Change in Aurangabad Branch Name to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
In another significant update, the ICAI has renamed the Aurangabad Branch of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch. This change was notified on May 10, 2024, partially modifying the original notification dated January 20, 1986. Despite the change in name, all other details and functions of the branch remain unchanged.
C. Detachment of Theni from the Jurisdiction of Madurai Branch
The ICAI has also announced the detachment of Theni from the jurisdiction of the Madurai Branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC). Effective April 26, 2024, this change modifies the initial notification from March 19, 1962, which had established the Madurai Branch.

No. 1-CA (7)/219/2024.—In pursuance of the Regulation 159 (1A) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is pleased to notify the setting up of a Branch of Central India Regional Council in Tonk District (Rajasthan) with effect from April 25, 2024.
The Branch shall be known as Tonk District Branch of Central India Regional Council and its Headquarters shall be at Tonk. The Jurisdiction of the Branch besides the following Places shall cover whole District of Tonk: –
1. Tonk
2. Deoli
3. Dooni
4. Malpura
5. Newai
6. Peeplu
7. Todarisingh
8. Uniara
9. Nagarfort
As prescribed under sub-regulation (3) of Regulation 159, the Branch shall function subject to the control, supervision and directions of the Council through Central India Regional Council and shall carry out such directions as may, from time to time, be issued by the Council.

No. 1-CA (7)/221/2024.— In partial modification of the notification no. 28-RC(1)/11/1986 dated 20.01.1986, notifying the setting up of Aurangabad Branch of WIRC of ICAI w.e.f 21.12.1985. It is hereby notify that the name of Aurangabad Branch of WIRC of ICAI has been changed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch of WIRC of ICAI. The rest of the contents of notification no. 28-RC(1)/11/1986 shall remain unchanged.

No. 1-CA (7)/220/2024 .— Whereas the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India vide notification no. 1.CA.(24)/61 dated 19th March 1962 w.e.f 1st April 1962 had set up a Branch of Southern India Regional Council at Madurai under Regulation 136(1) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1964.
Now in partial modification of the aforesaid notification, the Council of the Institute hereby notify the detachment of Theni from the Jurisdiction of Madurai Branch of SIRC of ICAI.
The effective date of detachment of Theni (Tamil Nadu) from the Jurisdiction of Madurai Branch of SIRC of ICAI will be April 26th, 2024.
