Rank Order Clustering Algorithm (ROCA) is an algorithm used in cellular manufacturing to group parts based on their similarity. It is a type of clustering algorithm that can be used to group parts into ‘families’ or ‘cells’ based on their similarity. This is done by assigning a higher rank to parts that are more similar, and a lower rank to parts that are less similar. The algorithm then groups the parts into cells based on their rankings. This type of clustering allows for better utilization of resources and more efficient production processes.
Step 1: Assign binary weight and calculate decimal weight for each row and column using the following formulas:
Step 2: Rank the rows in order of decreasing decimal weight values.
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each column.
Step 4: Continue the preceding steps until there is no change in the position of each element in the row and the column.
